It was an end...it was a beginning
The Inaugural Banquet had an atmosphere of the Model A era revisited, as it was held at the historic and grand El Jebel Shrine Center, coincidentally constructed in 1929. The gathering of more than 100 guests was nostalgic and electric at the same time: We reflected one last time on our 50th year as a club and took one more look back at a fabulous High Country Tour. The evening also had an air of suspense... Who would win the year-long Passport Game?...Who will be the big Lillie Fahey trophy winner?...Who will advance in the Milestone Awards?
It was exciting to see our 2010 Board firmly in place and looking ready to lead us through yet another historic year.
And to top it all off, at the end of the evening we were presented with the long-awaited 50th Anniversary commemorative booklet, beautifully produced by the Elliotts, Heaths, Laakers, Sandovals, Hal Swanson and Dennis Vanderhoof.
Be sure to read your March Quail newsletter for all the details!

It Was a Sweetheart of a Tour
Tour Chairman Linda Rickard was at the helm as we kicked off the 2010 driving season on our traditional trek to Loveland to stamp and mail Valentines with the special Loveland cache.
But that was where tradition ended...the route was new, the broken-heart matching game was new (and a great mixer); and the fabulous lunch at the Serious Texas Bar-B-Q was new (and quite delicious).
Winners of the broken-heart game were Rod Allen and Kathy Kula, who got a sweetheart of a deal when they were awarded gift certificates to the place where we had lunch.
Larry and Donna Grabianowski started out by dealing with a distributor that wouldn't "distribute." New parts and lots of mechanical support had them on the road in no time, but we do see here a possible candidate for this month's hard luck trophy!
Thanks to Linda and crew for another memorable Jeanne Cowan Big Heart Tour. And once again we were reminded that retired school teachers make excellent tour leaders!
